Jon Martin
Chief engineer & mastering engineer
Working in most contemporary genres, Jon specializes in rock, experimental, folk, Americana, and indie, and has trained with multiple-Grammy award winning engineer Micheal Brauer (My Morning Jacket, Coldplay, John Mayer). In addition to mixing and production work, he provides audio mastering services and has worked on a variety of projects from contemporary albums and EPs to film soundtracks.

Jon employs a hybrid analog/digital workflow using a combination of top-flight outboard equipment and the best of modern digital processing. Taking advantage of the best aspects of both formats, he crafts competitive, dynamic, and compelling audio productions.

When not producing music for others, Jon writes and performs with his band Jon Martin and Lovers. Recently completing his Master of Music degree (BMus '13, MMus '17), his research examines the relationship between timbre and the elicitation of emotion. He is inspired by travel, early 20th century Russian literature, new sound potential, and innovative creative processes.

Recent projects include work with CKXU Presents: Love and Records, Skinny Dyck, Makiisma, Bailey Kate, Doug Hoyer, Atomicos, The New Weather Machine, Brenna Lowrie, Queen of the Worms, Fawns, Jon Martin and Lovers, In Cahoots, Max Hopkins, Vanden Dool, Shaela Miller, and many others.

His production and composition work has been played on CBC Radio One, major market commercial radio, and campus community radio stations across Canada.

Clayton Smith
Engineer
Clayton’s had a unwavering drive for music for the last 14 years, diving head first into the recording deep-end in 2012. Being one who thrives on challenges and a (un)healthy dose of self-antagonism, Clayton strives to occupy most of his time with his passions and artful activities. He’s played in multiple, and a diverse array of, bands throughout his 10 years of living in Lethbridge, and has an informed background in music history. He’s currently playing with Open Channels, A. Trozzo & The Electric Few, Brenna Lowrie, The Dearly Departed, and Queen of the Worms. Highlights from the last few years include Treeline & Shaela Miller, The Record Holder, and the Palmers, and as recently toured with Michael Rault and the Renny Wilson Punk Explosion. He works in the Arts in Southern Alberta, and is pursuing a Masters of Arts in Sociology.
